Sports and Entertainment (by Jenn)

For those of you who don't know, I teach Marketing at the high school level. One of the classes that I teach is Sports and Entertainment Marketing. It is pretty much all seniors, and they are the loud, vibrant, funny seniors. Our school is on the block, meaning every other day we have class for an hour and a half. I have been giving them a lot of hard work lately, so I thought I would give them a break. Here is the project they are doing today (I thought of this last night at 11:30pm):

SPORTS MOVIE PRESENTATION
Pick a sports movie that you want to watch next Monday before Thanksgiving Break. Your job is to "sell" your movie to the rest of the class. You will have 45 minutes to research and prepare a short PowerPoint presentation. The last 45 minutes will be presentations on each movie chosen.

Rules and Guidelines:
  • Movies can only be Rated G, PG or PG13
  • Movies must contain a sports theme
  • You have to make sure you are not doing the same movie as any other group in class
  • PowerPoint must be at least 5 slides
  • No slide can have ONLY a picture - all slides must have valid information
  • No spelling or grammatical errors - this can lead to disqualification
  • The rest of the class will vote on the best presentation-this is the movie we will watch on Monday
Hints
  • Be creative! You want other people to vote for your movie
  • Think about how long the class period is, compare that with the length of the movie
  • Don't give away entire plot line in presentation
  • Have fun - but if I catch you playing the helicopter game, you will get a zero, and we will not pick your movie
This is worth 50 points!

Sidenote: Here is a list of movies presented:

1st period: We Are Marshall, She's the Man, Stick It, Space Jam, Mighty Ducks 2, Hard Ball, Coach Carter, Bad News Bears, Water Boy

The movie I wanted to win was We Are Marshall....the winner is...Space Jam. (WTF?)

2nd Period: The Rookie, Miracle, Miracle on Lane Two, Cinderella Man, Space Jam, Brink, Water Boy, Out Cold, Happy Gilmore, The Replacements, Longest Yard, Air Bud

The movie I wanted to win was Cinderella Man or Out Cold...the winner is....Space Jam. Seriously, WTF?
